CNN —Stellantis, the parent company of Jeep, Dodge and Chrysler vehicles, is recalling 338,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees in the United States because parts of the front suspension could become loose. The recall includes both Jeep Grand Cherokee and the longer Grand Cherokee L, which has three rows of seats. As of late January, Stellantis was not aware of any crashes or injuries resulting from the issue, according to official documents. Some of these vehicles could have bolts in the front suspension that were damaged during assembly. Owners who want to check if their vehicle is involved in the recall can go to NHTSA’s Safercar.gov website.

New York CNN —Electric vehicles are finally turning a profit for Stellantis, CEO Carlos Tavares said Thursday, and, in contrast to some rivals, it will not cut back on producing EVs. The announcement marks an important milestone for electric vehicles and for traditional automakers, which have struggled to make money on EVs even as demand has grown. Ford, the only company to break out results separately for electric and traditional vehicles, reported that it lost $4.7 billion in EVs last year, or more than $40,000 per vehicle. On Friday, Ford said it was cutting production of the F-150 Lightning electric pickup after weaker-than-expected electric vehicle sales growth. Stellantis said vehicles built off the new large platform will be built at multiple North American and European factories. A midsize vehicle platform announced by the company last year has similar flexibility, the company said.

Stellantis won't sell electrified vehicles such as hybrids and all-electric models at a loss like other automakers have, CEO Carlos Tavares said Friday. "Being in Europe as much as in the U.S., we are making money with the electrified vehicles," Tavares said during a roundtable Friday. "We are making money, and it is in our discipline to make sure that whatever we sell we make money with because, if not, then the company will not be sustainable." Stellantis currently has 25 EVs available globally and expects to launch another 23 through the end of this year.
